28-03 Bake Off round one winners announced

The winners of the first round of the Great BWT Bake Off at Corby Technical School have been announced.

The winners of the first round of the Great BWT Bake Off at Corby Technical School have been announced.

Year 7 student Faye came first with her shortbread biscuit decorated with flowers, Year 8 student Joseph came second with his chocolate-topped shortbread biscuit and Year 7 student Leonie came third with her fruit-topped shortbread.

The winning biscuits were chosen by CTS’s very own Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry – Network and Data Manager Dan Barstow and Business Manager Wendy Crookston.

Design and Technology teacher Nigel Barrett and Receptionist and Administrator Tracy Keogh have been heavily involved in the competition.

Miss Keogh said: “I thought the first challenge went really well.

“A lot of the students had practised their recipe at home beforehand which was great to see.

“I’m looking forward to seeing how they get on in the next round.”

Mr Barrett added: “The first Bake Off challenge was brilliant. The students did really well and it was great to see how they adapted the basic recipe they had been given.”

When the students have completed six Bake Off challenges our best young bakers will go on to compete against students from other Brooke Weston Trust schools in the grand final of the competition.
