18-09 Billie the snake pops in for a science lesson

Our young scientists met a special visitor as part of their latest project.

A group of Year 8 students were introduced to Billie the Corn Snake to assist them in their understanding of reptiles.

Director of Science Victoria Khan said: “We have been learning about reptiles in science so one of our students brought their snake in for us to examine.

“The students learned about Billie’s needs and how to care for her but predominantly we learned about her structure.

“They looked at her scales and we talked about her bones.

“We also saw how she can wrap her tail around things to support herself. It showed the students how strong she is and gave them a chance to see how she moves.”
