10-12 Our mathematicians raise money for the NSPCC

Our mathematicians have raised nearly £300 for the NSPCC by taking part in a sponsored Times Table Challenge.

Our students joined schools across the UK who took part the NSPCC Number Day last week.

They were challenged to beat Humanities Teacher Mark Bidwell who won the Teachers Times Table Challenge, which took place a few days earlier, and to raise as much money for the charity as possible.

Director of Mathematics Linda Arnold said: “The students did really well in the challenge.

“Some of our Year 7 students showed a lot of promise and I think they will be aiming to beat Mr Bidwell next year.”

So far the students have raised £293.40 for the charity.

The aim of Number Day is to make maths fun and instigate a positive ‘can do’ attitude towards the subject while raising funds and awareness of the NSPCC’s work.
