08-07 Entrepreneurs receive prestigious trophy

Our young enterpreneurs have received a prestigious trophy for making it to the final of the County Schools Challenge.

Our young enterpreneurs have received a prestigious trophy for making it to the final of the County Schools Challenge.

This year Northamptonshire Police challenged secondary school students to come up with a product which would tackle cyber bullying and promote e-safety.

Our team of Year 7 students, Rhys, Lewis and Emily, produced a card game which questions people about what they would do in a variety of different scenarios. At the end of the game the competitors are given a resolution or a consequence depending on the choices they made.

The cards also have an augmented reality component. The cards have codes on the back which competitors can scan with their iPads. They can then scan the front of the card with their iPads to get a 3-d version of the story.

Our students impressed the judges at the grand final at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough when they gave a presentation about their product in front of more than 100 spectators.

Our students missed out on the top prize but were congratulated by the judges on their product and their professionalism.

CTS Teacher Rob Cooper said: “Most of the other competitors were in Years 8 or 9 so our team of Year 7 students did fantastically well just to get to the final.

“They did very well on the night itself and even though they were nervous they didn’t show it.

“I was really pleased with the product they produced and with their presentation.

“The great news is they are all very eager to take part in the competition again next year.”
