A special event was held at our school to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

A special event was held at our school to celebrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

The STEM event challenged our Year 8 and 9 students to design and build a wind turbine in mixed age groups.

It was run by the Smallpiece Trust in partnership with EON.

CTS Vice Principal Linda Arnold said: “The students were provided with a design brief and needed to work within its constraints to win the challenge.

“The turbines were costed according to the materials used and students had to market their final result.

“The winning machines were tested to see which produced the most electricity.”
