22-06 Geography trip to Hunstanton

Our Year 7 students visited Hunstanton to take part in an exciting Geography project.

Our Year 7 students visited Hunstanton to take part in an exciting Geography project.

The students visited the Norfolk seaside town to study coastal erosion and examine coastal defences.

During their visit they also handed out questionnaires to the public and carried out traffic and pedestrian counts to determine whether the area merited investment to save it from erosion.

Geography Teacher Mark Bidwell said: “Under the new Geography GCSE students will have to carry out field work so this was a great way to introduce students to this type of work.

“The students will use their research to determine whether Hunstanton deserves saving from the sea.

“The local town council has also requested that we provide them with our research because they are campaigning for extra funding and want to know what people think about the area.

“Our students were great ambassadors for our school during the visit. A member of the public even called the school the day after the visit to compliment us on the students’ behaviour.”
