19-11 Students network with business leaders

Business leaders invited a delegation from our school to attend one of their regular networking events.

Corby Business Group welcomed Year 9 students Jess and Dmitrijs and teacher Nigel Barrett to their October Breakfast Meeting.

Mr Barrett said: “The meeting was really interesting and it was great for the students to see how business people network in real life.

“There were a couple of very interesting talks, including one about the electrification of the railway line from Corby to London.

“Our attendance helped to raise the school’s profile in the business community even further.”

Our school was invited to the event by Corby Business Group Co Chair Gloria Ellenton.

She said: “We like to invite students to our breakfasts as it gives them the opportunity to mix with business leaders in the town and to see the kinds of industries there are.

“It also gives businesses some idea of the calibre of students in the town.

“I spoke with the business owner that the students sat with and he was very impressed with them.”
