A group of our Geographers took to the streets of Stamford to gather important data for their GCSE course.

Our Year 10 Geography students visited Stamford this term to examine whether it has the characteristics of honeypot tourism, why people visit it, how long they visit it for, what visitors do during their stay and whether tourism has a negative or a positive impact on the town.

Over two days the students recorded interviews with the public on their questionnaire sheets and carried out land use surveys, facilities surveys, shop counts and pedestrian counts.

Geography Teacher Mark Bidwell said: “Stamford was very busy and the students were commended on their behaviour and politeness by members of the public.

“This project is worth 25% of their GCSE and they are now hard at work on writing up their findings for their controlled assessment.”
