Our students visited Europe’s first traditional Hindu Temple as part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development programme.

More than 30 students from Years 7 to 10 visited BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London which is popularly known as Neasden Temple.

It is noted as a masterpiece of traditional Hindu design and was hand-carved in India before being assembled in London.

CTS Teacher Mark Bidwell said: “We had a tour of the Temple and the Prayer Room and we visited an exhibition about the origins and impact of Hinduism.

“The students were amazed by the size of the Temple and the intricacy of its carvings.

“We visited the Temple as part of our Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development programme because we want to give our students the opportunity to visit and explore different religions for themselves and to show them the relevance of religion in the modern world.

“Our students were very well behaved throughout the visit and were observant and inquisitive.”

Our visit also coincided with a visit of about the half the mayors from the boroughs of London to the Temple.
