On Monday the whole of Corby Technical School took part in an assembly aimed at living a healthy lifestyle.

The assembly that was led by Miss James focused on personal trainer come social media sensation Joe Wicks aka the body coach, known for his Lean in 15 book series. He believes that people should not be dieting and feeling hungry all the time but instead should be eating nutritional food for energy and to feel good. He doesn’t believe in slogging for hours on end in the gym but instead encourages people to take part in short High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) workouts.

Miss James said ‘We decided to focus on Joe Wicks because he is so current and I thought he would be inspirational to students.  The focus is on healthy eating and lifestyle rather than dieting. He is interested in helping students get active and we as a school encourage this'.

‘As a technical school it is also really interesting to look at Joe because part of his success is down to social media. He uses it as a tool to promote his healthy recipes, fitness philosophy and HIIT workouts. There is so much negativity in the press about social media that it is nice for students to see how they can use these channels to reach out to so many people and make such positive impacts.’

After the assembly Year 10 students took part in one of Joe’s HIIT workouts as part of their PE lesson. Even Joe himself seemed impressed tweeting us: @CTSCorby I absolutely love seeing this.
