Mrs Arnold qualifies as SLE for maths

Congratulations to Mrs Linda Arnold, Vice Principal at Corby Technical School, who has qualified as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) for developing maths teaching and curriculum development.

Congratulations to Mrs Linda Arnold, Vice Principal at Corby Technical School, who has qualified as a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) for developing maths teaching and curriculum development.

She will be working with teams and individual teachers to improve outcomes for students in a range of schools. She said: ‘I have been involved in developing individual staff members and teams for a considerable part of my career. Being an SLE allows me to continue to do this while working in other schools. The Brooke Weston Teaching School has been a considerable help, supporting me in my application and providing the continued professional development that is essential to the role.

‘Mathematical literacy is a key life skill for everyone and it is also fun. At its heart is problem solving and that is what I enjoy about the subject. The SLE role will help me as a Vice Principal as I will have the opportunity to visit other schools and take experience from their context and apply it to my own. Many of the skills that I develop as an SLE will have a direct impact on my role at Corby Technical School, developing staff here as we grow.’

Mrs Arnold is very active in her spare time enjoying swimming, running and recently qualifying for her pilot’s licence, something she had always wanted to do. She was Head of maths at another Corby school before joining CTS as Director of Mathematics when it opened. She has previously worked as a production engineer in a variety of industries and joined the teaching profession after achieving an Open University master’s degree in maths.
