A group of Year 11 students toured Hardwick Hall in the run up to their GCSE History Exam where they will be required to complete a historical environmental study about the site to compare if it was typically Elizabethan for its period.

During the trip, the students explored the house and gardens to look at food production and lifestyle. They also looked at the debris from the original building and found out about trade links with Italy for building materials.

History teacher Miss Longhurst said: ‘The students really enjoyed the trip. Going to see a historical site was hugely beneficially for the students. They gained a more in-depth knowledge of the era and were able to look around and ask any questions they had. The visit has been great preparation for the students exam.’
