Staggered start to term in January

You will no doubt be aware of the government’s decision to stagger the return of secondary students to school in January.

We can confirm that the students who should return as normal on January 5th are as follows:

  • All those in Year 11
  • All those in Year 13
  • Any other students due to sit external examinations in January, such as for BTEC qualifications.
  • Children classed as vulnerable and those whose parents are critical workers. The definition of those who fall into these categories can be found here.

All other students will be required to access remote learning from January 5th to January 8th, until they return to full time schooling on January 11th.

CoVID-19 asymptomatic testing in schools

You will also be aware of the government’s offer to give students an on-site CoVID-19 test from next term. We are digesting information provided to us about these arrangements. It is a rapidly moving situation and so far we have not received all the details, so it will be next week before we can provide greater clarity to you of how we intend to proceed. Please note that on-site testing is not mandatory for students to access or schools to offer, though within the bounds of feasibility we will, of course, endeavour to do our best.

Mrs Reynolds will write next week with more information on both the start of term and CoVID-19 testing next week.
