08-01 Book Club off to a great start

Members of our new Book Club are keen to widen their reading habits after finishing their first book together.

The club chose I Wonder by R J Palacio for their first book and most of the students had finished reading it by the end of last term.

Many of the students said reading the book had opened their eyes to a new author and had made them want to try reading a wider variety of genres for the first time.

Louise said: “I thought it was really good. I wasn’t expecting the ending – it was really sad. I would definitely recommend this book to someone else.”

Charlie said: “It was a very heart-warming book. I’d never read anything by this author before and after this I will read more books by her in the future.”

Aidan said: “The book was awesome. It was easy to read and flowed well.”

Annie said: “It’s not like the type of books I normally read but I really enjoyed it. It’s opened my eyes to different types of books and I would definitely recommend this one to a friend.”

Shannon added: “It’s a really emotional book and the ending made me cry. When I read it I felt like I was in the book. It really grabs your attention.”

The Book Club was launched by Director of English, Markus Wilson, and is open to all Year 7 and 8 students.
