Chuck Close is best known for his large scale portrait paintings and work on pixelation and he provided our Year 7 students with the inspiration for their Repeat Pattern Project.

The students were split into groups which were given a piece of a portrait of Mr Close which they had to decorate with repeat patterns they had designed.

Art Teacher Rob Cooper said: “The students had to design the patterns for their segments of the picture and so the project made them think creatively under pressure.

“The students didn’t know what the completed picture was until we put all the pieces together at the end.

“They were guessing what it was all the way throughout the project and they were very excited to see the end result.”
