The Royal Aeronautical Society invited Year 9 students Joe Mann, Natalie Bristow, Emma McNeill and Robbie Harper to its Ballantyne event in London because it was aware of our school’s outstanding reputation.

The prestigious careers event gave our students the chance to hear from professionals about career opportunities in aerospace and aviation and see former Gadget Show and Bang Goes the Theory presenter Dallas Campbell.

CTS Vice Principal Linda Arnold said: “All the students who attended the event have an interest in aeronautics or aeronautical engineering.

“The event raised awareness about the different types of careers and exciting opportunities that are available to them.”

Natalie enjoyed meeting RAF pilot Flight Lieutenant Stefan Wurwal at the event.

She said: “I want to be a RAF pilot so it was great for me to be able to meet Stefan. He talked to me about the grades I would need to achieve to get into the RAF.”

During the event the students also took part in pilot aptitude tests and a critical thinking challenge.

The students received free train fare to London from East Midlands Trains to enable them to attend the conference.
