27-01 KidZania brings careers to life

Students were introduced to exciting careers and the realities of the world of work during a visit to KidZania in London.

Students were introduced to exciting careers and the realities of the world of work during a visit to KidZania in London.

KidZania is designed to be a city for children and young people with its own economy, businesses and training opportunities.

Students can choose from more than 60 different real life role play situations including the Aviation Academy, a police station, a television station and a hospital.

CTS Administrator Tracy Keogh accompanied our Year 9 students on the trip.

She said: “The students could experience different jobs, earn KidZania dollars, open up a bank account and spend their dollars in special KidZania shops.

“There was also a university which they could pay to go to with their dollars.

“It gave the students a real insight into earning, budgeting and how the adult world works.

“It was also a great opportunity for them to find out about a wide range of work environments and careers through careers advice and physical activities.

“Adults were not allowed into the KidZania workplaces so the project was led by students.

“Our students coped very well and found out all the information they needed. They really enjoyed it and it was a great experience for them.”

Students from our fellow Brooke Weston Trust schools Corby Business Academy, Brooke Weston Academy, Kettering Science Academy and Thomas Clarkson Academy also went on the trip.
