Our scientists were given special access to the room where one of the greatest scientific debates ever took place during their visit to the Oxford Natural History Museum.

Nearly 30 of our Year 10 Triple Science students visited the world famous museum to enhance their Biology and Chemistry studies.

During the trip they visited the room where The Great Debate about Charles Darwin’s Theory of Evolution happened in 1860.

CTS Director of Science Victoria Khan said: “We had the privilege of being given special access to the room where The Great Debate took place.

“It’s a room that you cannot go in normally and we had a fabulous time.

“The museum has one of the world’s best collections of human and humanoid skulls which enabled the students to see a visual representation of evolution.

"The students were so enthused about seeing the fossils and the relics.

“Even the pillars of the museum are made from rocks from different time periods which show you the different time periods as you walk around.

“The students also furthered their studies of Chemicals in Life in Chemistry by looking at rocks, rock formations and crystals.”

During the visit the students toured the museum using iPads to help them navigate their way around.
