Year 8 trip to Ypres

Recently, Year 8 students from CTS visited Ypres to find out all about the WW1 battlefields.

Recently, Year 8 students from CTS visited Ypres to find out all about the WW1 battlefields.

During the three-day trip, students were particularly interested in searching for Alfred Austin, a soldier from Corby who served in WW1 in the Queen’s 10th Battalion. He was killed on 4thAugust 2017 – one hundred years ago.

Vice Principal Linda Arnold said ‘ after lots of searching, students were very please to find his name recorded on the Menin Gate.’

Three students (Dominika, Adam and Ricky) took part in the Last Post ceremony at Menin Gate where they laid a wreath dedicated to Alfred and the other soldiers form Corby who served in wars during the 20th century.
