Wondrous Events company inspires students

Directors of Hattie and Flora recently visited our school to give a talk to our creative and entrepreneurial students about their wondrous events company.

The event was part of our ambition for all month, in which we have organised for a variety of guest speakers to come in each week to talk to students about the different career options available.

The directors, Harriet and Jodie told the students about the options they took when they were at school and how their backgrounds in theatre and floristry led them to setting up their own events company. The students where then able to see some of the props and visual elements the company creates for events of clients, which include Jamie Oliver, Channel 4 and Google.

Students also found out about the structure of the company and listened to their plans for the future to become a more eco-friendly and sustainable company.

Harriet and Jodie drew the assembly to an end by leaving students with a final message. They said ‘It is important that you take options that you are really passionate about and enjoy so you have the drive to carry on with them. We turned our dreams into reality and are really luck to do a job that we love, however we have worked very hard to get to where we are.’

Principal Angela Reynolds said ‘This visit has allowed the students to find out all about an events company. They learnt about the structure of the company, the types of things they make and the processes they have to complete. I think it has given the students a great insight into the industry and has inspired some of the them to consider a career in events and a few are now looking to do work experience in the field.’

‘A large part of our Ambition For All month has been celebrating all the ambitious things our students and staff already do however we have also arranged for a variety of guest speakers, working in a variety of industries, to come into school and talk to the students about the industries they work in. We hope this will inspire the students and help them to see the different routes and pathways they can take to achieve their dream jobs.’
