Successful leaders from local businesses visited CTS to share their stories with Year 11 students in the run up to their GCSE exams.

The visit was organised through Founders 4 Schools who aim to put schools in contact with local businesses. Jo Bishop from Coventry University College and Andy Cavaciuti from Obsidian Blue Ltd told students all about their companies and what they do, the subjects they studied and the importance of a good education. The business leaders also spoke about employability skills with the students such as presentation and shared interview tips. After the talk there was a Q&A session, which allowed the students to ask any questions they had.

Vice Principal Linda Arnold said ‘ I heard about the scheme through our careers advisor Julie Thompson. The talk really motivated the students at a time where they are preparing for their GCSEs and made them think about their next steps and how their education influences their future careers.

‘It’s also important to make links with local businesses who may be able to offer our students work experience and employment in the future. We will now be holding a similar event for our Year 10 students next month’
