One of our brightest young gymnasts overcame an injury to add more medals to her growing collection.

Year 7 student Brize represented Northamptonshire for the first time in the Regional Floor and Vault Competition in Leicester at the end of last month and also won four individual medals a few weeks earlier at a competition in Spalding.

During her routine at the regional competition she injured her ankle but she finished her programme and helped the county team to secure second place.

She said: “My routine was really hard and I hurt my ankle while doing it. The pain nearly made me cry but I kept going.

“I’m really proud of myself for keeping going and for representing my county for the first time.”
