10-12 Students invited to spend a penny for Oxfam

Our students have been invited to support a life-saving project instead of giving Christmas gifts this year.

Our students have been invited to support a life-saving project instead of giving Christmas gifts this year.

In the past some classes have taken part in Secret Santa but this year we have encouraged students to make a small donation to Oxfam Unwrapped’s Build A Bog project instead.

Teacher Mark Bidwell launched the initiative in school on World Toilet Day.

He said: “We’ve invited each tutor group to support Oxfam’s Build a Bog project this year and have asked anyone who is feeling flush to spend a penny on a bog.

“This project builds toilets in the developing world and is changing people’s lives for the better.

“In this country we have benefited from clean sanitation for about 200 years but there are still parts of the world that do not have this and it impacts on life expectancy.”
