23-03 Comic Con is a hit with staff and students

Our avid comic and movie fans transformed themselves into superheroes for the UK's biggest modern pop culture event.

Our avid comic and movie fans transformed themselves into superheroes for the UK's biggest modern pop culture event.
More than 50 of our staff and students from Years 7 to 10 visited MCM Comic Con at Birmingham's NEC on Saturday to meet stars of film and television, including Warwick Davis and Primeval's Hannah Spearritt.
Staff and students dressed up as characters from their favourite shows for Cosplay and some of their costumes were so good they have been shortlisted for a prize by the organisers.
CTS Director of English, Media and Drama Markus Wilson said: "It was our first visit to Comic Con and it was a great experience. We wanted to go as part of our efforts to celebrate our students' interests.
"Over the past few years lots of students have asked if we could go to Comic Con and this was a hugely popular trip. Within 12 hours of it being announced all our seats were booked.
"The majority of our students and all our staff dressed up for Cosplay and we had a lot of characters from comic books, games and films.
"The students really enjoyed the fact that they could look at lots of rare merchandise that is not readily available in the high street.
"We would really like to go again in the future and the staff and students are already talking about the possibility of forming a bigger Cosplay group for the next trip."
