Award winning archer Iulia Petre has been selected for the GB Archery training camp and is hoping to take part in the Tokyo Olympics.

She is due to attend her first training session with the team on 29th October and will need to attend regular competitions.

She said “I am very nervous about the training but also extremely excited.”

Year 10 student, Iulia trains every day and is currently using the school’s sports field because her club’s own is not long enough for the shooting distance she requires. She takes part in weekly competitions in order to prepare for the camp and get used to the competitive atmosphere. Iulia currently holds the award for Under 16 National Champion and recently won an award for Under 16 County Champion which took place in Bedfordshire.

Mr Rogers, Iulia’s Form tutor and PE teacher said ‘Iulia is dedicated to the sport and receives so much support from both her coach and parents.’
