CTS achieves School Games Mark Gold Award

We are very excited to announce that we have become one of only two secondary schools in the Corby, Oundle and Thrapston School Sports Partnership to achieve the School Games Mark Gold Award.

We are very excited to annouce that we have become one of only two secondary schools in the Corby, Oundle and Thrapston School Sports Partnership to achieve the School Games Mark Gold Award.

The reward is given to schools that took part in the School Games programme for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. It is graded on four areas; participation, competition, workforce and clubs.

The school impressed the judges with their sports leadership programme that provides students with a wider area of opportunity. The students have attended many events in the community throughout the school year, including the Welland Valley Athletics event where they set-up and umpired a range of sports.

Other areas that impressed the judges were the school’s extra-curricular activities, inter-tutor competitions and the relationships they have built with external clubs. The judges commented on the schools strong purpose to educate students and provide them with clubs that they enjoy.

Head of PE Mr Daniel Rogers said ‘It’s a fantastic achievement for us as a school to achieve this award with such a small cohort. We have not only excelled in participation but also in what we have achieved through the wide variety of sports.

‘Achieving this award has also allowed us to proceed to the Corby Borough Council Sports Awards, in which we are in the Sports Secondary School of the year category which is very exciting.’

The award recognises the significant impact of delivery and commitment to PE and School Sport and will be awarded on Thursday 12th October 2017 at The Best Western Rockingham Forest Hotel.

The School Games aim to keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.
