Our comic and movie fans transformed themselves into superheroes for the UK's biggest modern pop culture event.

Over 40 students visited MCM Comic Con at Birmingham's NEC on Saturday to meet stars of film and television shows, including actor Michael Rooker from the The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy and Comic book movie actress Brianna Hildebrand who plays the Negasonic Teenage Warhead in Deadpool.

Many staff and students dressed up for the occasion as characters from their favourite shows for Cosplay.

During the day, the students had the opportunity to venture around a range of exciting stalls full of comics and rare merchandise. They looked around Star Wars displays and visited the gaming area, where they ere able to try out the latest technology. Students were also able to listen to talks from Author of the classic cyberpunk noir novel Altered Carbon, Richard K Morgan and DC artist David Finch, in which they found out how he started in the industry.

Librarian Miss Kidner said: ‘This is the third time the School have taken part in the trip. All the students enjoyed the day and got thoroughly involved, with many attending in fancy dress. The students also learnt a lot about potential careers in technology such as voiceovers and careers in games technology through a variety of guest speakers. Having the chance to test out the latest gaming technology was also great for us as a technical school and allowed the students to gain a greater insight into the industry.’
