Year 10 student Owen has received a Young Person of Courage Award from The Corby Rotary Club.
Members of the Corby Phoenix Rotary Club presented Owen with the prestigious award in recognition of his motivation and resilience at a presentation afternoon held at the Holiday Inn.
Owen was nominated by Corby Technical School because he continually goes above and beyond by challenging himself and being an advocate for younger students.
Owen said: ‘I really was not expecting to receive the award but it’s nice to be formally recognised. Thank you to the school for the nomination and to my parents for their support.’
Vice Principal Miss James said: ‘Owen is resilient and looks to challenge himself. He is self-motivated and the first to have his hand up in class. He pushes himself to do better, always asking how he can improve his grades.
‘He is also an advocate for our younger students in school during their transition to primary to secondary school and is on hand to help out during transitions days.
‘Owen really deserves this award for all his hard work and we are extremely proud of him. Well done.’
