Corby Technical School is one of only 150 schools across the world that have been chosen to take part in Raspberry Pi Weather Stations for Schools project which has been launched by the Raspberry Pi Foundation.

Our Year 9 Computer Science students began building our weather station at the end of the summer term and they hope to begin analysing data from it next term.

CTS Computer Science Teacher Arron Gourlay said: “We are thrilled that we are one of only 150 schools that were selected to take part in this project.

“Our students have been hard at working building the weather station and they must programme it and make sure that all the sensors are working correctly.

“We hope to deploy it next term so that we can start sharing our data with the other successful schools from around the world.

“Being involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) projects like this one gives our students a wealth of knowledge.”

The students will monitor the data outside of school hours. They also plan to build a website to enable them to share their data.
