Year 9 student Katie, who competes for NGTA (Northamptonshire Trampoline and Gymnastics Academy), managed to score a total of 52.5 points at the Regional Trampoline Team Qualifiers. This score put her in overall second place, narrowly missing out on first place by just 0.25 points.

Due to Katie’s success she has qualified for the Team finals which will take place at the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham in June where she will perform in front of a crowd of over 15,000 people.

Katie said ‘I’m extremely happy with my placing and it’s great to see new personal bests in my sport. I am really looking forward to perfoming in Birmingham. I now also have a chance to qualify for the individuals where I could achieve best in the country for my age, level and gender.’

Katie has now taken part in the sport for 5 years. She said‘I’ve always been sporty and when I was younger tried all different sports, trying to find the one that I was really passionate about, I went swimming, tried tennis, joined the school’s football club but it was only when I went to a summer camp that I found my passion for trampolining. I started off training for an hour a week and this rapidly went up to two hours and now I train for 8 hours a week.

‘I have achieved so much through the sport and my club and have the opportunity to work with some very talented people everyday. I’ve also had the been lucky enough to meet trampolining Olympic medalists Bryony Page and Katherine Driscoll.’

Katie is also working towards becoming a coach and will complete her coaching course in July.

We wish Katie the very best of luck.
