Yesterday Year 8 students took part in an interactive physics workshop called ‘Ever Wondered Why?’.

During the event that was held in School’s George Weston theatre, the students observed a variety of exciting physics related experiments. Several lucky students volunteered to assist with the demonstrations which included making smoke rings using an air zooka and using liquid nitrogen to make ice cream.

Vice Principal Linda Arnold said ‘We held the workshop to give students an insight into physic as a subject in the run up to choosing their GCSE options. They now also have a better understanding of the types of careers the subject can lead to.’

Eve, Millie and Rohan who took part in the workshop said ‘We really enjoyed the experiments. It has made us consider taking physics as an option at GCSE and possibly as a career. It was very useful to watch an experiment as a way to explaining things.

‘We all thought that chemistry used exciting experiments but this workshop has shown us that there is a lot more to physics than we thought.’
