18-11 Year 9 students promote Anti-Bullying Week

Year 9 students have been leading a series of special assemblies to promote Anti-Bullying Week 2015.

Year 9 students have been leading a series of special assemblies to promote Anti-Bullying Week 2015.

The event is running throughout this week and this year’s theme is ‘Make a NO!SE about bullying’.

One of the main aims of the week is to empower young people to make a noise about bullying – whether it is happening to them or to someone else, either face to face or online.

CTS Assistant Principal Elizabeth James said: “We are promoting Anti-Bullying Week because we wanted to reinforce to students how they can recognise bullying and where they can seek help.

“As students get older they can become unsure about what constitutes bullying.

“We explained to them what it is and that it can include bullying online, at home, at school and on the way to school.

“We have also talked to them about the different types of bullying there are including physical, emotional and racial bullying.

“We’re encouraging the students to make a noise about bullying and are showing them where they can get help inside and outside of school.”

9C Tutor Louise Feeley and her class led yesterday’s assembly on Anti-Bullying Week.

She said: “We shared some key facts about bullying and told the students where they could get help at school.

“We also watched a film about several famous people who had been bullied when they were younger who explained how they had dealt with bullying.”

Corby Technical School has a section on its website which is dedicated to safeguarding children and includes information about anti-bullying and where students and parents can seek help. It can be found in the Parent Information area of our website or by clicking here
