Representatives from Corby Borough Council, the Corby Jam youth team and Northamptonshire Police visited our school today (Wednesday) to help students learn about the impact alcohol can have on people’s lives.
During the visit the students discussed the impact alcohol can have on people’s health, emotions and everyday life and were challenged to complete a series of simple tasks, such as navigating cones and picking up items from the floor, whilst wearing goggles which simulate the effect of being drunk.
Corby Borough Council Community Safety Officer Laura Shaw said: “We wanted to talk to students about their experience of alcohol and find out what they know about the impact alcohol can have on people.
“We ran a series of fun interactive activities to raise awareness about the potential harm alcohol can cause.
“We don’t visit schools to judge anyone. We just want to make sure that if young people choose to drink alcohol in the future that they do so in as safe a way as possible.”
