Representatives from the National Citizen Service recently visited our school to talk to students about an opportunity they are running over the summer period.
Our current Year 11 and Sixth Form students heard all about how National Citizen Service allows them to take part in a range of experiences in three phases: Adventure, Discovery and Make your Mark, over a four week period.
During the first week, students will have the opportunity to stay at an outdoor activity centre and get to know others. They will take part in a variety of challenging activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and abseiling.
During the second week, students will have the opportunity to develop life skills such as confidence, leadership and communication and will listen to influential professionals. This residential will also give students the opportunity to experience what university could be like as well as living away from home.
During week three and four, students will design a community action project focused on something they are passionate about and will then make that plan a reality.
Principal Mrs Reynolds said ‘NCS provides a brilliant opportunity for our students and many of them took part last year. The skills they gain make them stand out to employers and help them to fill out their CVs and UCAS applications. I hope the students take this opportunity, which can set them apart from others and help them become closer to reaching their ambitions.’
