Paper 2 – Algorithms and Programming

All students have the option to purchase a revision guide, which will aid them in the creation of revision resources. Students are encouraged to focus on individual topics during each revision session and ensure their revision is active. This means creating revision resources such as mind maps and flash cards.

To encourage good revision practice, students have been provided with a “PIXL Revisit” booklet, which allows them to revise a number of key topics alongside a timetable that is set out weekly on “Show My Homework”. These tasks encourage students to use a range of skills such as condensing their understanding into a small writing space or creating visualisations of their understanding through diagrams. Where students find revision techniques work for them, they should be encouraged to use these techniques as part of their general revision.

In addition, students are set a weekly algorithm question through “Show My Homework”. Students are given pages of their revision guide that might be helpful for them alongside each task.

In addition - the Computer Science department have created a resource which shows the topics that will be covered in the Paper 1 exam, along with links to revision resources for each topic. You can find this resource here.
